Registered Nurse

A registered nurse provides and coordinates care for patients in healthcare facilities. The RN supports physicians and other medical professionals, as well as communicate with patients’ families about their progress. Registered nurses are trained to work with patients from all walks of life. Among others, an RN’s responsibilities may include:

 

  • Administering medication
  • Dressing wounds
  • Monitoring vital signs
  • Inserting intravenous (IV) catheters
  • Creating a plan of care
  • Documenting patient information
  • Preparing patients for discharge
  • Teaching patients and their families about various illnesses and treatments
